General Information

  • Entry Fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. $125 Must be accompanied with the registration form which is due no later than June 1st , 2024.

  • Pork in the Park BBQ Challenge is a BBQ rib and Chicken Thigh entry. It will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 on Lake Street, Cadillac City Park Cadillac, MI.

  • Best Ribs Cash Prize Awarded:
    • 1st - $1,000 & Trophy
    • 2nd - $500
    • 3rd - $200

  • Wing Contest:
    • 1st - $500
    • 2nd - $300
    • 3rd - $100

  • EVERY CONTESTANT will earn 1 voucher “vote” which will be entered into a drawing for a chance to WIN Prizes!

All teams in the BBQ Rib contest and Voucher Vote must:

  • 1. Pre-Registered and have paid non-refundable, $125 entry fee

  • 2. Have one Pit Boss “Chief Cook”, who is responsible for their team.

  • 3. Provide their own seasoning and cooker/grill

  • 4. Cook on Charcoal, wood fired, wood pellet or propane of any design.

  • 5. All cooking MUST be performed in your designated cooking area

  • 6. Have a current inspected fire extinguisher on hand at all times.

  • 7. Will be provided a 10x10 space to cook in. Over sized trailers must be approved before the competition, no vehicles will be allowed to be parked in the cooking space.

  • 8. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.

  • 9. Electric plug ins are available and first come first serve for about 20 contestants. Extension cords are not provided.

  • 10. At all times, teams will respect the rights of the other teams. Profane language or infringement on another team’s site will not be permitted

Pork In The Park


Pork In the Park Cadillac, MI welcomes you to compete in this year’s BBQ competition. Please read and understand these guidelines. Thank you for your participation and look forward to July 6th 2024.


  • 1. Registered and paid entry fee.
  • 2. 8 AM - Morning setup at “Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion, 100 S Lake St, Cadillac, MI 49601”. Along the lakeshore of Cadillac Commons Park.
  • 3. Designate your team’s “Pit Boss”.
  • 4. Every team must provide their own fire extinguisher.
  • 5. If needed Provide your own extension cord, est. 50 ft.
  • 6. Bring a 5-gallon bucket and clean rags for sanitizing the work area.
  • 7. Competitors will need a work area, small table, canopy, chairs, cooler and ice etc. are all permitted.
  • 8. Don’t forget your ingredients and tools!
  • 9. All prepping and cooking must be performed in the designated work area.
  • 10. No Alcohol allowed.
  • 11. At all times teams will respect the other teams and their work areas, profane language or infringement on another team’s work area will not be tolerated and can result in an automatic forfeiture.
  • 12. 10 AM - meat will be handed out.
  • 13. 12 PM - 2 PM - Public taste testing from vouchers will begin for Chicken thighs. Vouchers will be provided by Pork in the Park.
  • 14. 2 PM - Chicken Thighs selected and turned in for the Judges.
  • 15. 3 PM - Winners announced for the Chicken round.
  • 16. 5-6 PM - Ribs taste testing will begin for the voucher program.
  • 17. 6 PM - Ribs - select your best and turn into the Judges panel.
  • 18. 6:30 PM - Winners announced for Ribs.
